Founded in 1985 by a group of independent showmen, the Society of Independent Roundabout Proprietors is made up of professional and semi-professional showmen owning and operating vintage fairground equipment, generally defined as pre 1971.
Many of our members devices are pre world war II including victorian, steam powered, wooden framed and hand turned fairground rides. Also included are an array of supporting attractions such as coconut shies, shooting galleries, round-stalls and vintage penny arcades.

SIRP provide industry representation to our members and pass on valuable advice and latest legislation affecting the fairground industry. We also maintain close links with many government departments such as, The Health & Safety Executive and the Home Office. The society has played a vital role in advising and affecting changes in the law that could have severely compromised Britain's historic fairground heritage and made operating vintage amusements virtually impossible.
The society is relatively small in numbers but represents the vast majority of the UK’s vintage fairground operators. We aim to maintain very high standards of presentation and are proud to have members who operate some of the finest and rarest vintage fairground equipment in the world.
We welcome prospective new members to apply by completing a membership application form and contacting our membership secretary.
It is a condition of membership that all equipment must be tested annually under the ADIPS Scheme (Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme) and all equipment must be fully insured.
